Flames fire pit

My Dad has been working on a fun project lately that I wanted to share. His brother was looking for a fire pit to use out on his acreage, so Dad set to work and created this unique Calgary Flames fire pit.

The main part of the pit is part of a steel pressure vessel with the legs and swivel arm welded on to it. Attached to the swivel arm is the grill and the cover which has the Flames' emblem cut away from it. Beneath the fire pit is a removable tray to easily remove ashes. The entire thing has been painted with silver heat resistant paint.

Being entirely made of steel, this pit is very heavy. Unfortunately I haven't yet seen it with a fire burning in it, but I can imagine it will be spectacular with a fire burning beneath that flaming C.

Wow, cool!
How did he manage to cut such a perfect emblem in the steel top?
Very nice!

He cut it using a CNC cutting table. It's basically like Logo, except that the "turtle" is a torch that's hot enough to cut steel. Dad programmed the Flames emblem into the machine years ago (think about trying to draw a Flames emblem in Logo ... that hurts my head), but has found plenty of opportunities to reuse it since then.
